So I don't mean for it to turn out this way, but I feel like every time I post on my blog it ends up being about cole or my mom, probably because they are pretty much my two best friends... haha I'll go back to doing the 60 day thing (that I failed miserably at) next time but until then you will have to suffer through another gwendolyn/cole post....
So.. ITS MOTHERS DAY!! but It is my first mothers day that I am not with my mom in 21 years... (also my first birthday I was not home for in 21 years on Monday and I didn't like that so much), but not getting to be with my mom was a really big let down. She is my best friend, the source of my sanity when I'm losing it, my go to person, I love her with all my heart. I sent her flowers and a letter for today but it just doesn't seem like enough. How do you let the person who has given you the most know how much you care about them? If any of you figure it out let me know. But anyway point is I love you Mom, and I hope you know that, I really don't show it enough. Happy Mothers Day!!

Mothers Day 2012
Also with it being mothers day and not being at home and not getting to see my mom came one other big let down.... I wasn't home to go over for cole's phone call. Cole's mom has been such a sweetheart and has invited me over for all of his mission phone calls home. Knowing that I wasn't going to get to be there for it was KILLING me inside. BUT Cole has the sweetest family and once the call went through on skype, Wendy called me on her phone and put me on speaker so I could still listen in and be a part of his call.
See this picture?
See in the bottom corner?
See how they are holding a phone?
yeah, That's me in the form of an iPhone.
How great are they?
And how cute is he?
Man, I love him.
He sounded so good. I am so proud of him and how hard he has worked on his mission. The crazy thing he said though was "next time you see my face will be at Sky Harbor!" Is that insane to anyone else? 7 more months. They will fly by right? Not that I'm keeping track or anything ;)

Surprises from Russia!
Last wednesday Cole's current companion finished up his mission and returned home to Orem Utah. This afternoon I got a call from a random 801 number that I didnt know. When I answered, it turned out to be Elder [Jacob] Kelly! He said that he had something for me from Cole and asked when would be a good time we could meet so he could get it to me. Luckily neither of us were busy tonight so I went over to his house and got to talk to him about the mission and then he gave me my present from Cole.
this is what it was...
My very own PINK Russian nesting doll AND another tape!!!
earlier today I was listening to one of my old tapes and thought to myself, "man... i would love to get a new tape from cole"
Wow, if that didn't make my day enough there was another surprise when I opened them up...
Is he the sweetest or what? I really try hard not to post every time I get a letter or every time he has been out another month (which I have been good about not) because sometimes even I get annoyed with my newsfeed getting blown up by girls posting about their missionaries... but every once in a while there are those special things that you can't help it!
That Elder Jacobson is just the greatest boy I know.
Now I'm going to go listen to my tape and go to bed :)

Day 9
A picture of the person who has gotten you through the most...
Hands Down, without a question that is my Mom
I got blessed with the greatest mom in the entire world. Somehow she knows how to deal with me, and thats saying a lot in itself. She has always been right there for me when I needed anything. I have always had a major problem with stressing and freaking out about things (even since elementary school) but even when I left for school at BYU,and she has always been right there on the other end of phone when I need to talk to someone. Whenever I am having a hard time she puts together the sweetest packages to send me and help just make my day that much better. She knows me better than anyone, what things I like, don't like, you name it. I can talk to her about anything. Everyone that has met my mom tells me how great she is, even today one of my friends that recently got home from their mission said to me "Even though your in Utah I might go over to your house to hang out with your mom because she is THAT cool". Its true. My mom is the best

Day 8
A picture that makes you laugh...
This picture isn't even that funny, it was probably a 'had to be there' moment... but the story behind it is that I was complaining that I have a huge head and that my sister's head is smaller and more proportional than mine... my mom said that wasnt true (which it is) so to prove it to me she decided to take a picture of our heads. This was the result of my mother saying
"okay girls smile on three!"...
After my mom took the picture she looked at it on the display of her camera and burst out laughing. Sometimes my Mom, Sister, and I have this problem where if one of us starts laughing then the rest join in and none of us can stop (even if we don't know why we are laughing). So we sat there hysterically laughing for a good 5 minutes to the point that my mom may or may not have pee'd her pants... this picture cracks me up every time I see it.
and I think its clear that I have a HUGE head.
but I keep of thinking of pictures that make me laugh so im just going to show a few more...
My Cousins Noah and Mataya
My dad's black eye on Christmas
and especially those random pictures you get from people when they are bored...

Day 7
A Picture of your most treasured item
I never had the privilege of knowing my Grandpa Rogers. He passed away when my dad was only ten years old. I have grown up hearing stories about him and I look up to him so much. He was a pilot and a Lieutenant Colonel for the U.S Airforce, he was a trained astronaut and was part of the Dyna-Soar program (look it up). I know that he loved his family, and loved his country... But another thing I know about him is that he loved to play the violin.
When my dad and his siblings were dividing his dad's things, somehow my family got the honor to get his Violin. When I was in elementary school I could NOT wait until I hit 4th grade so I could FINALLY get to go to orchestra and learn to play the violin. My parents are incredible and even though this beautiful antique instrument should probably be in a shadow box or some kind of protective case they let a little 4th grade girl lug it to school (even though I definitely was not ready for a full size violin yet I didn't want to play on anything else). I played this all through high school but then decided that to keep it safe, I should leave it at home when I left for college. One of the things I look forward to the most when I go home is to pull out my/my grandpa's violin and play it for hours. I love having something that I know meant a lot to my grandpa.
I love this old violin.

Bowling
Okay so I have a strange passion for bowling... I love it. Am I good at it? No. but i really enjoy it. My 2nd semester at BYU I took a half credit bowling class for fun and absolutely loved it. I never broke 200 but when you are bowling 3 days a week for an hour you do improve a lot so I got pretty dang close, but anyway... I went on a date a little over a week ago and from previous conversation he knew I liked bowling so he decided to take me. I think he anticipated that like most people I would be really bad at it and he asked me if I wanted to get bumpers (so insulting right? I guess he forgot that I'm Emily Rogers) so obviously I said no, then I think I sort of blew him out of the water when this happened....
Is that 152 to 115? it sure is! Like that turkey in the 9th and 10th frame? Yeah, I was pretty proud of myself. To get his man card back though he wanted to play another game, but then the lights went out and cosmic bowling started and unfortunately for me I CAN'T bowl well when the lights are out... i HATE cosmic bowling. I only scored like a 90 or something the 2nd game... so he did have a better total combined score but I didn't care, I still had the highest score of the night.
There isn't really a point to this post... just to say if anyone ever feels the urge to go bowling call me up because I'd go whenever.
